13 man Roto League. 8 cats (no turnovers).
My team is:
PG - Kidd
SG - Mayo
G - Mo Williams
SF - Artest
PF - Brook Lopez
F - Nene'
C - Howard
Bench - Deng
Bench - Augustin


I have had an offer of Joe Johnson + Vince Carter for Howard. Howard gives me alot (especially since it is a no turnovers league). I told him no right away but the offer is still on the board. Now i am having second thoughts. what would you do?

Who are the other bigs on his team? That trade looks good for you, but it's a shame you'd have to drop someone. Try adding another player (I'd do Artest) for the worst guy on his team and a big guy who gets Boards and Blocks.

Thats the problem, here is his line-up:

1. (13) Joe Johnson
2. (14) Anthony Randolph
3. (39) Vince Carter
4. (40) Monta Ellis
5. (65) Rudy Gay
6. (66) Nate Robinson
7. (91) Allen Iverson
8. (92) Courtney Lee
9. (117) Corey Maggette
10. (118) Tyreke Evans
11. (143) Hasheem Thabeet
12. (144) DeAndre Jordan


He refuses to give up Randolph (he took him 1st in the 2nd round ) and the only other bigs he has are Thabeet and Jordan (both who he drafted in the last 2 rounds).

I do have utilility players i can drop in Brooks, Rush, and Garcia (i picked him up after he was waived due to injury). I have no problem dropping any of those players.

Do the trade drop Garcia.

Do you have Util spots? or is it just PG,SG,G,SF,PF,F,C?

If you have Util spots, then excellent trade.

If you don't have Util spots, you'll need to fill that SF/PF position. Look to move Carter for perhaps David West, Caron Butler or Antawn Jamison. Or Joe Johnson for say Gerald Wallace/Iguodala.

Yeah, i screwed up, Deng and Augustin are my utility players and i have Brooks/Rush/Garcia as my bench.

Do the trade...you already have Lopez who will be a beast and now FT% is a category u will be competitive in.

That is a total steal for you now that you mention those bench spots. Your improving just by getting rid of Howards FT and TO, plus you get two solid guys in return.

I agree with dropping Garcia. He's not worth holding on to.

Our league doesnt count TO, but i pulled the trade anyway. Now i am looking at Picking up Dirk+Dalembert for Nene+MoWilliams. If i do that, my line-up will be

Dirk
Artest
Lopez
With Deng and Augustine as Utility.

If you get Dirk for nene and mo will, wow I think you just won your league.

he hasnt agreed to it quite yet, he offered me Dirk+Crawford for Lopez+MoWill. I just traded Howard so i need to keep Lopez and im trying Nene+MoWill for just Dirk. He previously traded Rondo+Garnett for BDiddy+CharlieV, so who knows what he will do!

Just an update, the trade is now my MoWill/Nene/Artest for Dirk/CharlieV/Dallembert. We countered each other many times and i think this is going to be it (he says he really likes it with the addition of Artest). Artest has been doing great in the pre-season and i think he will continue to do great, and was also a steal as i got him in the 7th round, but in the long run who is going to be better this season, Artest or CharlieV ? After the trade goes through my line-up will be

Kidd
Mayo
JJohnson
Carter
Dirk
Charlie V
Lopez
With Deng and Augustine as Utility.
and Dalembert/Brooks/Rush on the bench.

I didnt want to give up Artest, but you got to do what you got to do!

I got him in the 6th round, 73rd overall... lol wow.

Well, final update:

Trade was accepted. Dirk/Crawford/Dalembert for Nene/MoWill/Brooks.

My new roster that starts on opening day is

SG JJohnson
G Mayo
SF Carter
PF Dirk
F Artest
C Lopez
Util1 Augustin
Util2 Deng
Bench1 Crawford
Bench2 Dalembert
Bench3 Yi (waived Rush for him)

Only other trade im working on before the season starts is trading Deng for Duhon. Not a big deal if it goes through, i just wanted to add some extra assists/3's.
