Need serious advice on this Fantasy Team (Won't take long)

Post#1 » by Hilltop » Fri Nov 27, 2009 3:54 pm

I'm in a 12-team Head to head League that just drafted a few hours ago and this is my team:

PG Mo Williams
PG Beno Udrih
PG Mario Chalmers
SG Jason Terry
G Tyreke Evans
G/F Vince Carter
SF Danillo Gallinari
F Thaddeus Young
F Carmelo Anthony
PF/C Tim Duncan
PF/C Joakim Noah
C Brendan Haywood

From what it looks like at least, I think I will have enough scoring punch (Carmelo, Duncan, Carter, Terry), I will have enough 3-pointers (Gallinari, Carter, Terry, Williams, Chalmers), enough assists (Evans, Udrih, Chalmers, Williams) and enough blocks and rebounds to go with that (Duncan, Noah, Haywood). I don't have any high turnover guys and they're all good free throw shooters (worst is Noah at 65%)

The players that are still left on the board are:

Dahntay Johnes
Wilson Chandler
Mickael Pietrus
Ryan Anderson
Randy Foye
Chris Andersen
Randy Foye
Shane Battier
Kirk Hinrich
Antonio McDyess
Tyson Chandler
George Hill
Ty Lawson
Earl Watson

I'm tempted to consider Dahntay Jones. Should I consider picking up any of these guys and replacing one of my players? Is my team balanced enough to succeed in most categories?

Your team is pretty well balanced. I think your assists category is kind of average other than that, solid picks.

Ya, your team is good and i agree on needing more assist. Dahntay Jones is a solid pick, I have him on my team but don't know who you would drop.

First day down seems like I'm really down on assists, thanks for the advice though. There seems to be a shortage of guys on the wire who can contribute in that area significantly

Here's some advice, you're not going to win every category..If assists is your only bad category, then you're in good shape going forward..When I draft my team, I draft knowing that I will never win turnovers, but as long as i take the other cats, thats fine by me. Winning 8-1 is better than winning 5-4

I would suggest you to make a trade instead of adding a player in the board.

I would also try trading Udrih, while his stock is relatively high. Maybe a package of Haywood + Udrih for Brooks, he's ranking in yahoo is pretty low with his past two game where he struggled, then you go pick up Andersen. Or try Haywood + Udrih for Okafor + player x)

If you're looking to upgrade your assists, you need to try putting Duhon on your radar. Yes, he was in a slump, but he is slowly bouncing back. He could be a guy that could really help you in the assists category. If not, go monitor Raymond Felton. Both Duhon and Felton is on a slump but they are slowly bouncing back. Remember that both guys are playing for the $ this season.

The most commonly punted stat is TO's though so I'd recommend puntinga a different category personally. Half the league says they're punting TO's, if you draft around them, it's one of the easiest categories to win. I think TO's, FG% and FT%, are the least sexy stats, so people overlook them, you can win a lot of games that way.
