Other team misclicks - Veto trade?

Post#1 » by jorgo » Tue Jan 19, 2010 7:05 am

So I'm in a keeper league, and I wake up this morning to find a guy offered me his Tim Duncan for my Raymond Felton a few hours ago.

I accept after I look up that Duncan hasn't had a season ending injury.

Someone in the league protests several hours later, then the owner posts a message saying he misclicked, and meant to offer me another player for Felton; not Duncan. He requested the commissioner reverse the trade.

It's a 12 team, 8-cat, roto league where you keep 5 players.

The team who had Duncan is close to last in steals and assists, so Felton is actually a decent fit for his team.

Felton is ranked 40th overall since S-Jax trade (approx 30 games).
Duncan was ranked 41st overall last season.
Duncan is 33, Felton 25.
Duncan will miss games this year due to playoff preservation.

Do you think this trade should be vetoed and reversed?

My thoughts are that I obviously win the trade, but not by a ridiculous amount. And if the trade is reversed, then that sets a really bad precedent considering it's a keeper league.

Thoughts?

I think it's veto-able.

Duncan is playing like a top 20 player this season, and Felton isn't a keeper. To me, the *misclick* claim is negligible. The talent disparity is enough reason to nix this one.

Mis-clicking, offering the wrong player, or being drunk and on drugs while offering trades are not viable excuses.

Even if it weren't a mis-click, it would still be vetoable.

Seems like nobody in all of fantasy except me has any faith in Raymond Felton.

I rate him as a top 50 player. I rate Duncan as a top 35 player. (This year he is shooting the lights out)

Throw in the fact that it's a keeper league, and the deal to me isn't that lopsided.

Or am I just seeing all of my players through rose-colored glasses? Definitely been guilty of this in the past.

I think you're matching Felton's upside against Duncan's downside, and there's still a significant gulf between them. You mentioned again that it's a keeper league. Is Felton someone you'd want to keep? He was consistently drafted after 100 in most leagues.

Absolutely disgusted at the way this issue panned out. Message from the commissioner:

"I disallowed the trade because TEAM A said he made a mistake in proposing/accepting the trade.

For the record, I will allow people to reverse a trade or waiver drop if an owner makes a mistake in good faith. Usually, I will need an immediate notification (on the same day) via e-mail or message board post that an honest mistake was made an a transaction needs to be reversed. In TEAM A's case, he left a proposal up (thinking it was Ben Gordon for Felton from what I understand) and left for work, and he notified us in less than 24 of the mistake. "

At least let the deal go to a vote to see if it gets vetoed that way, but no. Voided straight away because the owner made a mistake.

This was a bad trade. You absolutely made out in it, but are upset because now you won't.

Mistakes happen. I wouldn't want to win because someone fat fingered a trade.
