Jameer Nelson

Is he worth-keeping or worth-dropping?

I'd try and trade him first but my fellow managers are wary of his performance after coming back from his recent injury.

I picked him up on waivers a few weeks back and he's been an absolute bust. I'm thinking of dropping him.

Thanks for the reply, wax.

I'm giving Nelson a week since he busted out with an eye-opening performance Saturday night.

21 points (8-for-12 FG, 2-for-2 FT) with seven assists, four boards, three treys and a steal in 39 minutes of action.

I hope this is a first of noteworthy performances.

Now unto my next subpar PG: Jose Calderon.

I'd give them more time. Both Nelson and Calderon are working their way back from injuries and almost surely have a higher upside than anything on the waiver wire. I have both of them on my team as well. I was only able to pick them up because they were injured at the time. I'm confident by playoffs, both will be playing at a higher level.

So, I just picked up Darren Collison. And I'm thinking of dropping Jameer Nelson now. I would assume this is a logical move since he's not providing me decent fantasy numbers.

Nelson owners anybody?

Name your three worst players, and the top 5 players on the wire. Then we can determine if dropping Nelson is a good idea.

Thanks jorgo.

3 players that I consider worse performing right now are:

- Thaddeus Young (inconsistency)
- Ben Gordon (recovering from recent injury)
- Ronnie Brewer (I only keep him because of his STL)

5 players pick-worth:

Jared Jeffries - utility stat guy
Chase Budinger - more minutes after Lowry injury
Ryan Gomes - starter but not starter minutes though
Daniel Gibson - ???
Ramon Sessions - assists

My lineup by the way:

PG - Steve Nash
SG - Kevin Martin
G - Jose Calderon
G - Darren Collison
SF - Carlos Delfino
PF - Dirk Nowitzki
F - Kevin Love
F - Emeka Okafor
C - Brendan Haywood
C - Nene Hilario
Util - Ronnie Brewer
Util - Keyon Dooling

BN - Jameer Nelson
BN - Ben Gordon
BN - Thaddeus Young

It's because all the managers in my league are very active.
It just so happens that I got Collison first and that means I must've been the most active manager so far. :)

One last help?

Jameer Nelson for Ray Allen?

I'm offering Nelson for Ray. I can use Ray's 3PT skills.

As a Celtic fan.

Pierce is hurt, so Ray's value goes up.

One unamed player though that will take advantage of Pierce's injury is Tony Allen.

Tony will never give you a 3, but he's active defensively so he will get you a steal. He'll give you at least an assist per game with starters minutes, he'll go to the line. And in the BOS system he should keep his FG% high.

Tony is inconsistent and not a full season guy, but he does hold the possibility to go on a beastly role for 15 games.

This is helped by Marquis Daniels also being out till next week with Pierce's injury. Also Tony Allen is coming off 2 of his better games in the past couple years, both statistically and basketball wise. I'd strongly advise to take a flyer on him if you're just looking for steals.

Thank you for the wonderful insight celticfan. I will seriously consider Tony Allen.

To start the year i traded away camby and maggette for Jameer nelson and JHoward

that was a terrible deal for me.

I just traded away Jameer to the same owner for maggette

Wow. Looks like you robbed someone there. Happy for you.

Agreed. Maybe except for Matt Barnes: better FG%, 3PT and a little bit of REB, FT% and AST.

OH well, thank you for the advice guys. I decided to drop Jameer Nelson instead since I'm quite impatient with my fantasy lineup. Tried Tony Allen but I dropped him for utility guy Jared Jeffries.

And now for Ben freakin' Gordon, who's killing me with his low FG%?!?!?!

I guess no more SG next fantasy season then, unless a proven SG falls to my lap.

I think Ronnie Brewer is the guy on your roster you should drop. The guys was solid last year, and actually put you over the top in the steals category, but he steals are down, and his overall production has dropped.

Sorry to see Pierce having a "broken foot" being a fluke. Really ruins Tony Allen's chances of being something.
