BYC + PP status post trade

Post#1 » by Village Idiot » Wed Feb 13, 2008 8:28 pm

I seem to remember reading a while back that a BYC player, once traded, would lose that status and be regarded as a full-salary player post trade.

Is this true? I can't find any evidence to support this. If true, does the same apply to a poison-pill player?

It's true. Art VII, Sect 6, (h) (4) (iv) (C)

It should hold for the so-called "poison pill" provision as well.

Thank you.

What salary do you think the PPP player is valued at for trade purposes? If New Jersey aquires Devin Harris can he be re-traded alone with a trade value of $3,995,003?

Just off the top of my head (I know, it's dangerous when I do that), BYC specifically goes away when a player is traded, but PPP applies to the entire season, and there's no provision that says it goes away under ANY circumstance -- including a trade.

^^But if a PPP player is traded, is he still BYC the following season?

Still base year. Look at the rules for when it's extinguished. One of them is when "The player is traded, unless the trade occurs prior to the beginning of an extended term described in Section 6(h)(4)(i)(B) or (C) above."
