Roster Sizes/Status

Post#1 » by catalyst » Fri Oct 24, 2008 6:44 pm

We are having a bit of a debate on Mavs site. The max roster size is 15, but how many can be active per game, and what is the eligibility to be on the inactive list? Is there a requirement on years of service or NBDL possibilities?

Thanks in advance to the legal/cba team

Any 12 of the 15 can be active for the game. There really isn't an inactive list per se. Any team member not on the active list is just inactive. They can be injured, in the NBDL, attending the funeral of a relative, or just sitting on the end of the bench in uniform. There is no requirement on years of service for a player to be left off the active list.

In the Mav's case, none of their inactive players could be in the NBDL, since they all have at least two years of service in the league.

Fixed the one error here (emphasis mine). They can't be in uniform if they're not active.
