Brilliant minds,
Sekou Smith, the beat writer for the Hawks, mentioned lazily the other day that Josh Smith has a trade kicker in his contract. It's absolutely a possibility because the Grizzlies signed him to that deal, but on the other hand, Sekou has not been the most accurate writer when it comes to CBA details. (I figure there's a chance he was trying to say Smith is currently "BYC").
Could anyone here confirm this minute detail for me?

He does indeed have a 15% trade kicker. He also has some performance incentives, which are currently listed as unlikely.

My deliciously blue website of sex carries that kind of information, when known, via the "additional info pop-up" things below the salary charts. I've been trying to think of a way to make that a more practical application, since no one really uses it, but it's there all right.

I find said pop-up to be quite useful.

Anyone know how big Amare's trade kicker is? I'm trying to figure out the least amount of salary GS can to send to PHX for a July trade to work.

Does anyone have a TK of less than 15%?

Bruce Bowen did, and, in the unlikely event that he can trade his ass, Mo Peterson has only a 7.5% one.

I use it and recommend it to all my friends and relatives interested, which makes 2 people using it.

Re: Josh Smith & "trade kicker."
Hello all, I'm a newb to this board, but a frequent poster on the T&T.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knew exactly how a 15% trade kicker in Josh Smith's contract would be expressed on the payroll of a team acquiring the mercurial young forward. Since the $6mil has to be paid up front, does Josh's salary cap figure expand by that amount for the current season? Surely not, I'd imagine.
Would it instead be spread (on the payroll, mind you) equally throughout the rest of his contract, similar to how signing bonuses are handled? Or would it have zero effect on Smith's payroll figure?
Thanks in advance for the feedback. And Sham, I enjoy your site.
