Its not that players aren't worth 15m a year. Its just that when they get injured and aren't half the player they used to be. Or maybe they just want to quit on their team knowing that they have a guaranteed contract they can get away with it. Guaranteed contracts are no good for sports. Especially when you have the type athletes u have in basketball. Hockey, football, and baseball would never allow their players to be lazy or just quit. Basketball you have 19 year olds in the pro's making millions of dollars too soon. Which spoils them way too fast. Baseball for one takes usually 3-5 years to get to the big league. Football with the way their contracts are, players have to play a top level or they will get cut. Only in basketball you have these spoiled immature athletes that can sit on the butts and collect a check. As soon as a guy signs his 5-6 year contract. They can go on auto pilot.

Let their contracts be incentive driven and see them play hard for their money. The product would be better. And their would a lot less boring NBA games out there, knowing these players make money based on their results.

You're joking right? Players quit and don't try hard in every sport. Hell, certain people don't try hard in every job. Its a fact of life, some people just aren't motivated enough to earn their paycheck. It isn't just a basketball thing.

Contracts need to be partially guaranteed, partially non-guaranteed. I would say the majority should be guaranteed though. Fans watch the NBA to see the players, and the league makes, usually, a lot of revenue off of those players. Thus the players deserve to be well-compensated.

Owners want to get rid of long term "albatross" contracts - a suggestion for contracts/changes under the new CBA:

The maximum length of any contract shall be 4 years - with the 3rd and 4th years team options. If a player is cut/waived after 2 years, he shall be paid a "severance pay" of 30% of the 3rd year salary plus 10% of the 4th year salary. If a player is cut/waived after 3 years, he shall be paid a "severance pay" of 10% of the 4th year salary.

The amounts paid if a player is cut/waived shall not count against team salary in those years.

The "home team" can offer maximum salary contracts of 4 years with maximum annual raises of 10% per year, plus they can offer a 50% (of the first year salary) "signing bonus" - other teams can offer contracts of 4 years with maximum annual raises of 5% per year.

The maximum cap space for any team in any given year shall be limited to the amount of one (1) maximum salary.

The idea of a salary cap would be very hard to put in place in a league where the salaries are varying each season. So instead of just Bosh, Bron, and Wade, we could see Dwight and Cp3 joining them all just so that they get paid more. Seems like if this were the case, the smaller market teams would suffer greatly. Again, i could be missing something huge here, so my bad..

I agree you 100%. There is NO way to stop all super star play in NY and LA.
