Are players able to recruit other players on other teams? I thought this was considered tampering.
Might the league not intervene and forbid the Knicks from trading for Anthony?

I very much doubt that the league would prevent the Knicks from trading for Anthony because Amare sent him a text. Even if the league decided it was tampering (which I doubt), they might fine Amare and that's about it. The Knicks would have every right to say "why is the organization being punished for something Amare did?"
