question about the lockout
how does it affect players that will be heading into free agency this summer? Based on what I understand, if there's a lockout then it doesnt matter if you are under contract or not, you will not get paid. From what I understand it is the new CBA that will determine how much more or less a player will make.

Re: question about the lockout
Players who are not under contract would be free to play in Europe if they wanted to and wouldn't need clearance from FIBA. Once the lockout is resolved they will hit free agency under whatever the new rules of free agency are.

But if they are signed in Europe then NBA teams wouldn't sign them until they were released. Players hoping to play in Europe will most likely have to make a choice about giving up the full year in the nba, as I cannot see many teams signing players to contracts with mid season opt outs.

Re: question about the lockout
I guess if nba players - like Melo may be - would really play in Europe, they would have clauses of opting out at any time.
Thats what i would try to get as a player.
Contracts can have such clauses, or am i wrong?
