NBA games can begin as soon as the NBA is ready. There can be no more confusion about the player’s willingness to play. The players are ready to honor their contracts and begin new business directly with owners without the intervention of the union.
I have to tip my hat to the union for having more integrity than I gave them credit for having.
I don't know what the owners intend to do but I certainly hope they don't make their situation worse by breaking the law and subjecting themselves to substantial liabilities. I would like to see the basketball season begin and for everyone to get along. People should do business the right way.
I don’t know who deserves the most credit but I noticed David Stern called Jeffery Kessler despicable. So, I suspect the credit for this positive development should go to him. And, the agents deserve credit as well. David Stern said they are dishonest and self-serving. So, no doubt the agents deserve credit for guiding their clients correctly.
I am certain these developments will lead to a more just system of compensation for players. The days of pedestrian players like Travis Outlaw and Tyrus Thomas earning as much money as LeBron James are over. And, the days of one team being able to sign 3 franchise players are over.

How can the NBA honor their contracts when it would be an anti-trust violation i.e. "breaking the law and subjecting themselves to substantial liabilities"? Try again!

Yeah - this is the Union saying "we win because we say so.". Except the already existing NLRB and Court actions against the players union for the unfair labor practice. The contracts will be voided and th lockout upheld (like with the NFL). Try again, though.
