Andrew Wiggins
As of right now, Wiggins is a poison pill contract. If I recall correctly, it used to be that you would go from poison pill to BYC the following year? Is that the case under the current CBA?

No.
That recollection is wrong and he is a normal contract come July 1st with his post extension salary.

What were the parameters of trading him pre deadline?

To put it very simply, he would have counted for the Wolves as his current salary. For the acquiring team, he would count as the average of his currently salary and all years of his extension.
That makes it very tricky to match salary on both sides.

Isn't it more accurate to say that NYG's recollection is correct. It used to be the case that a 1st round pick signing an extension after their 3rd year would be a PPP contract for trades that year, then transition to a BYC contract for trades the next league year.
That is no longer the case with the current CBA so Wiggins will be tradable as a normal contract July 1

Re: Andrew Wiggins
What's the difference between Andrew Wiggins contract and his being eligible for trade immediately within ppp parameters vs Kawhi Leonard signing a max extension this summer and not being eligible for 1 year after that date?

Base Year Compensation. It is a term for how much a player counts in a trade.

Wiggins signed a standard extension of his rookie scale contract.
Leonard is presumed to be signing the Designated Player Veteran Extension or so-called "Super Max" extension. When you sign that, you are ineligible to be traded for a year. The DPVE was added to aid team's ability to keep their homegrown players, not to sign them and then trade them. That is also part of why you can only offer it to a player you drafted or acquired while on their rookie scale deal.

Is this still nullified for if a player leaves and then comes back? DeMarcus Cousins could not sign a one year with Sacramento this summer and then the following summer try to get that supermax, correct?
