Bravo!!

Obviously there are still big hurdles to clear as already pointed out. But this is the most plausible scenario I've seen to date.

Finding team(s) with enough space or TPEs to take on that salary that are looking for role players only to get a late 1st rounder in return will be the key. Acquiring team(s) may also need to be assured that Tucker and Gordon won't be salty enough to to seek immediate buyouts if it's less than an ideal situation for them.

Isn't Houston hard capped? If so, they couldn't pay that much salary if they wanted to. But I guess the hard cap goes away by July.

Hard cap for Houston goes away on 7/1.

It's theoretically possible. But 1) how good will Houston compete without Capela? Not very well. And 2) what incentive does Dan Gilbert, a jerk even under the best of times, have to facilitate a LeBron trade for two future 29 or 30 picks? Almost nothing. He can buy those picks. His best way forward is to trade Love for a 10 or 15 pick and, if he can't find suitors for their veteran players, buy them out. Get real bad real quick and get two or three years of top-five picks . If the tank is done well, fans will support it. And you'll get some diamonds in the ruff - guys like Covingtona and TJ McConnell

They should bring in Sam Hinkie to consult on how to tank effectively.

I'm going to lock this thread. It's gotten pretty far away from the original question of legality and into speculation about what teams and players should and shouldn't do. For further discussion like that, please take it to the General Board of the Trades and Transactions Board.
