Remember, that was the very same route they used with Thompson last year. After a protracted wrestling match, pay him essentially what he wants.

Both Tristan Thompson and JR Smith are represented by Lebron's agent. Makes you wonder how much Lebron has to do with the signings, he's publicly called for JR to be signed this year and Tristan last year. I guess Dan Gilbert thinks a championship is worth going even more into the tax to placate his star.
