JWB Fall Out

So, will there be fall out in the next CBA to prevent another Miami type of unholy union? If it were up to Stern I would think not as he like pushing the stars. However, I have to think most of the owners will push for something. Teams like Minn, Milwaukee, Utah, OKC, Detroit can not compete otherwise.

My guess is that teams will be able to offer their own free agents even more money and more years making the financial hit of switching teams even greater.

They already do that. I don't really see the problem. Miami had to get rid of literally everybody on their roster and had to convince those guys to take quite a bit less than the max to make it work.

If it did need to be prevented then Stern could change the rule so that the minimum roster charge goes up the more roster spots you have open. The idea being to prevent teams from being able to offer 3 max salaries or close to it via cap room.

Does Stern really need to prevent it though? Miami is going to be good for tv ratings. Lots of people are going to be watching the playoffs. And it all comes down to money in the NBA.
