So I was trying to come up with a way to dump Gooden on a team and I came accross Matt Carroll's salary.

His final year is 3.5 million and sham's website says its an early termination option.

So my question is, who decides if his contract is terminated??

If I had to guess, i'd say the team but sham's website lists team options and player options.

Anyways I hope someone can clarify this for me.

Player option: Player has the option to extend the contract to already dictated terms.

Team option: Team has the option to extend the contract to already dictated terms.

Early termination option: Same principle as player option, but with some subtle differences that aren't particularly important, and definitely aren't interesting.
