Marc Gasol

Post#1 » by Dr Aki » Wed Dec 1, 2010 5:12 am

a few questions i couldn't find the answer through my research

1. because marc hasn't signed an extension, did memphis extend a QO to marc to turn him RFA??

2. if memphis has turned marc gasol RFA, could a team offer marc a 5yr MLE deal but include a 1/2yr player optout clause and if memphis matched, it would have to include the 1/2 yr optout clauses and it means marc could activate it in a 1/2 years time and become unrestricted?

1a) He can't sign an extension, even if he wanted to, and never could. Not eligible.
1b) This (the QO) hasn't happened yet, and doesn't need to eb determined until June 30th. It will happen though.

2a) Player options are only allowable in the final year of a contract.
2b) If Memphis chooses to match any offer sheet that Gasol signs with another team, they will be matching the contract exactly, i.e. down to every last detail.

how about a 3yr deal with ETO clause after 1 (its essentially the same)?

ETOs aren't restricted to final years of a contract are they??

ETO's are only allowed on 5 and 6 year contracts.

.......and even then, they must be in either the final or penultimate year only.

I love it when you use words like "penultimate". It makes my eyebrows hard.
