Will the Rockets get under the luxury tax?

Post#1 » by raleigh » Fri Feb 25, 2011 4:14 pm

I was a bit surprised to see that the Rockets will not slide under the luxury tax this season. I figured they'd move Jeffries with some cash and a 2nd rounder to Sacramento to fix that.

I'm wondering if there's anything out other than Hayes' incentives that we're overlooking...anybody "in the know" or just a good guess?

Im guessing the buyout with Jeffries was developed around the Rockets ducking under the tax.
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

I doubt Jeffries gave back the $1.5M the Rockets need to get under the LT threshold. And from my research, none of the players have likely bonuses that will probably be unearned. From what I understand, Hayes's bonus is currrently carried on the books as unlikely to be earned.
