Chicago Bulls question...

Post#1 » by sportscrazy » Wed Apr 25, 2012 2:13 pm

Let's say the Suns offered Chicago Channing Frye and a future first round draft pick and a 9 mil TPE for Carlos Boozer in the summer then the Bulls amnestied Ronnie Brewer. How much cap space would they have for the 2012 offseason?

None.

Deng, Noah,and Rose total 40.17
Frye and Hamilton total 11.0
Gibson and Butler total 3.22
Cap hold for Asik 2.41
If you waive Korver, Watson, Brewer, Lucas, and Scalabrine and give away the draft pick, you owe a total of 0.5 (in real life, they may want to keep one or more of those players rather than have to find a replacement)
Cap hold 4 empty slots around 1.9
TOTAL 58.2

Even if the cap ends up a bit higher, they'd keep their exceptions rather than whatever piddling cap room they would get by renouncing their 9.0 TE, 5.0 MLE, and BAE. And they'd keep one or more of those "we can waive these" players rather than have to find a replacement.
