Rondo Insurance Question

As the world knows, Rajon Rondo tore his ACL and is out for the season (at least).
I've read that NBA teams are required to maintain temporary disability insurance on their top five salaried players, with coverage kicking in after 41 games. I've also read that the insurance covers 80% of the player's
salary after it becomes effective.
1. Can someone confirm the above facts?
2. Can someone confirm that the 41 games include playoff games? Does it include exhibition games?
I note that the Celtics have 38 remaining regular season games. If they make the playoffs that means at least 4 additional games. So if Rondo is not ready to play at the start of next season, when would the Celtics begin to collect on the policy? (I understand that the team may have purchased supplemental temporary disability insurance in addition to the league-mandated coverage.)
