Bledsoe & PHX being able to sign 2 max free agents

one of selling points for LeBron in PHX is PHX having Dragic/Bledsoe/good young pieces & being able to sign 2 max free agents.

But Bledsoe is a RFA, so if they're in a situation where they have to match, is the match counted against the cap this year? or is only QO counted against the cap this year & match would allow them to go over the cap?

Say Lakers offer Bledsoe max & Suns match, is 3.7 counted against the cap or 14.8m before they're able to sign 2 max players?

Whatever bledsoe willl make will be his cap hit. Also their ability to give Lebron and Melo max without losing their young guys was overstated by Woj.

Thanks for writing this. I got killed on the T&T board when I suggested it was unrealistic to expect the Suns to land two max FAs without moving any young pieces. As if that was some criticism of the Suns situation. They are in a remarkable situation cap wise, considering they barely missed the playoffs last year.

But wait . . If no team offers Bledsoe the max before Phoenix hypothetically signed Melo/Bron , then he would only count his QO against the cap. Then they could go over the cap to sign him.

And all they would need to do to have the 40 mil in space to sign Bron/Melo is trade away 2/3 of Gerald Green and the Morris Twins. That doesn't seem like it would be too difficult as all 3 are expirings.

Alas , Phoenix does not seem to be on either guys radar.
