When the cap sky rockets, will the MLE rise to something silly like $10 mil too?

Nope. The yearly MLE is pre-determined until this CBA is done. In summer 2016, 5.628M.

Seems like there's only going to be a 1 season window with sky high cap and a relatively low MLE (2016-17). After that, the players would almost certainly opt out and a higher MLE amount seems likely to be negotiated in the new CBA.

Will there even be an MLE, in a new setup? Ya never know.

In coming to a deal, there's always the tension where all the various interests (owners, stars, agents, journeyman) are grabbing for a bigger piece of the pie. Adding something on one end takes away something else on the other. Maybe the changes are drastic this time?

I could see it going away. I think the Room Exception is at risk too. That one has always seemed a little shaky to me. Maybe some new set is created. This next CBA round is going to be very interesting.
