Just wondering what some CBA related sites you go to. I check out Hardwood Paroxysm's blogs + the CBA FAQ site, but just wondering what other ones you guys would suggest taking a look at. I read the NBA CBA in college during the last lockout and will be writing about topics in the NBA / NFL CBA for my law journal article, so would like to know some other sites that may not be as well known (or just anything in general). Thanks!

Do you want articles on general cap quirks and nuances, or more of a focus on the actual cap numbers? Do you want something league-wide focused, or on a single team (and if so, which)?

Your question covers such a broad number of writers that I'd rather give you one or two excellent names that fit your preferred focus, rather than shotgun some names at random. None have time to cover everything, and the wider the field of focus the shallower the details they are going to be able to write about, so need a more focused question from you if you don't mind.

I definitely need to focus in on a couple of topics to be specific. The cap itself isn't going to be talked about (except for when I talk about contracts) - my primary issue will be on the NBA/NFL draft ages, but will talk about PED testing, max/min contracts, MAYBE BRI split, and other smaller topics as asides.

I know about Lowe, Woj (except he doesn't talk much about the CBA), and the guys at the HP blogs - aside from those guys, that's really all I know of for NBA related topics. Unfortunately, I don't know any NFL ones...

I would stick with the FAQ, as it has the most info in an easily digestible format.

If you want contract information (not sure if you do or not), Eric Pincus at Basketball Insiders is the best. His stuff is at: http://www.basketballinsiders.com/nba-salaries/

And we have the CBA Encyclopedia here on RealGM at: http://basketball.realgm.com/news/analysis/tags/105/CBA-Encyclopedia

The Encyclopedia is just getting started, but really great info for what is already posted.

Also, RealGM has some cool stuff here: http://basketball.realgm.com/nba/info/salary_cap#

RealGM's stuff is more functional than it is informational, but it is full of good info.

Beyond that, I would recommend combing through Mark Deek's blog at Sham Sports. He always has a lot of good, in depth pieces posted.

For the NFL, the only really solid site I know of is http://overthecap.com/

It is also more contract based, but the NFL info is harder to come by from what I have discovered.

Eric Pincus at the Basketball Insiders Salary site has all of them.

You can also figure them out yourself fairly easy, once you have the "formula" down. The CBA FAQ has a table that tells you how to get to the Cap Hold for each FA. It is in Question 38.

So just to make sure I'm researching correctly, am I right in thinking the following cap holds would apply?

Langston Galloway - $1,180,431
Cleanthony Early - $1,180,431
Arron Afflalo - $9,600,000

If the Knicks held onto those cap holds and dumped Jose Calderon and Derrick Williams for expiring contracts then on their books would be:

Carmelo Anthony - $24,559,380
Robin Lopez - $13,500,000
Kristaps Porzingis - $4,317,720
Kyle O'Quinn - $3,900,000
Jerian Grant - $1,643,040

5 Empty Roster Spot Cap Holds (@ $543,471 per cap hold) - $3,717,355

Assuming a $89 Million salary cap, the Knicks should have $26,401,643 in cap space which should cover the projected 7 to 9 years experience first year MAX salary of $25,300,000 to pursue Kevin Durant, Mike Conley or Al Horford?

Yeah I think that is pretty close. I haven't worked it all up, but I think you are basically there.
