What is the max contract for LBJ in extension after trade

Post#1 » by Bluewhale » Fri Jun 8, 2018 7:40 am

I am considering a possible senario for LBJ: What if there is a trade similar to 2017/6/28 CP3 senario?

1. LBJ option in the final year. The salary in 2018-19 is $35,607,968
2. Cavs trade LBJ to team S. With trade kicker. The salary in 2018-19 season is $40,949,163
3. Team S extend LBJ 3 more year, with maximum rise 8% per year.
2019-20 $44,225,096
2020-21 $47,763,103
2021-22 $51,584,152

From 2018-2022, the four year contract value is
$184,521,515

So LBJ could receive 184.5 Million in the next for year in this senario.

Please help me to check if my calculation is correct.

Thanks a million.

There are a slew of limiting rules, but if I didn't miss any, it looks more like this:
1 The salary in 2018-19 is $35,607,968
2 Cavs trade LBJ to team X. The salary in 2018-19 season remains $35,607,968.
Note: AFAIK he has no trade kicker.
Note: Even if he had a trade kicker, salary would remain same due to max salary limit.
Note: Lebron does have a no-trade, so can only be traded where he wants.
3 (6 or more months after the trade) Team X extends LBJ 3 more years, with maximum raise 8% per year.
2019-20 $37,800,000 (max salary using projected 108M cap for 2019-20 - contract would be adjusted when cap is set)
2020-21 $40,824,000
2021-22 $43,848,000

Tot about $158M w 108M cap in 2019-20
