Question about cap space teams and exemptions
If a team has more cap space than the midlevel exption, and uses that cap space do they then get to use a mini mid-level exemption? Or is it just vet min from there on?

That's what the room MLE is all about.
You have to look at every "exception" as a permission to violate the limit on salary (aka the "salary cap").
Technically pretty much all teams start the summer over the cap and typically have a non-taxpayer MLE. But it uses up cap room, so the team that has the opportunity and wanting to sign someone with more-than-MLE cap room will renounce that MLE to get the cap room to use. Once renounced, the NT MLE is gone for good that year. But after they are finished spending the cap room, they get a room MLE, kinda like a bonus opportunity to spend after the room is used up.
