Trading for a team to not do something
There have been a lot of rumors that the Clippers could buy out Cassell and that he would then sign with Boston. Could a team like Detroit that doesn't want to see him go to Boston send a draft pick to the Clippers in return for them not buying out Cassell? Is that legal? I know in 2001 Detroit sent a pick to Orlando in return for them not conveying a pick they owed to Houston before a certain date (this had to do with what eventually became the Darko draft pick).
