How do the Heat have 17 players on their roster?

Post#1 » by lakerfan10770 » Tue Apr 22, 2008 10:06 pm

I was just going through and updating the final rosters as of the end of the season for each team in preparation for the upcoming off-season when I noticed that the Heat have 17 players on their roster. I checked NBA.com & RealGM and both list 17 players on their roster. I just thought it was a little weird.

They got roster exceptions for having so many injuries. Marion, Wade, Haslem, Wright, etc. They had 9 healthy bodies at one point, including the extras.

Whether all those who were ou tinjured could have played on is another matter. But the league's hands were tied on that.

Thanks,

I figured it was something like that but I was to lazy to look it up....

Coincidentally, I was just browsing your site and I must say, my boss just lost about an hour of my productivity, truthfully he's lucky to get 2 productive hours out of me a day. Anyways, good job, I was quite entertained. I particularly liked the "Where are they now" segments.

I only made those so that the "Find in blog" entries ont he player files would stop clogging up my errors logs. Turns out that I enjoyed doing it more than I thought I would.

After learning how Hoopshype sold their (admittedly far more useful) service for 7 figures, my motivation level has ramped up a notch.

I was actually curious about Michael Sweetney, not because I care about him, but because it is funny to me that he was drafted so high and once his rookie contract expired he was gonzo. I didn't see any info on him yet, but I am sure you have something in there.

I know you said that you have not made a dime on your site, but honestly, I don't think anyone would blame you if you tried. You obviously put in a lot of time with it so you might as well get paid if you can.

Hoopshype sold for 7 figures.. That's surprising considering there are so many other similar sights (Hoopsworld & Insidehoops to name 2).

Actually, I have nothing on Sweetney. And believe me, I've looked. The guy hasn't signed a professional contract since leaving Chicago, nor has he made the news in any way. He doesn't even have a Myspace, it appears. Trying to conctact his agent would only result in "he's working out privately at home" kinda talk, which is probably lies anyway. So he's completely MIA.

I hope he sorts out his food addiction and returns to high level basketball, because he's pretty good, and by all accounts he's a nice fella.

This will inevitably happen one day. But there's too much that needs doing yet. I have to write roughly 700 profiles, and then finish the projects I have started, like the criminal records and stuff. Then I'll be happy with it. Then, I can move it forward.
