Can you re-sign a player you waived?

Post#1 » by bgwizarfan » Tue May 27, 2008 6:42 am

So i know the only way to re-acquire a player traded away in the same year is if that player is waived (and you have to wait 20 or 30 days depending on when it is). Is there any limitation on waiving a player? i.e. could you waive a player and then either re-sign him or trade for him later that same year? obviously if you waive a player, you mite not want him back, but lets say for some reason they do. this would be legal, right?

Well they have to clear waivers, obviously, but otherwise it's fine. Denver have been doing this since the late 1940's with Anthony Carter and Jelani McCoy. And Indiana and Courtney Sims played a similar game of footsie for half of this season.

You can't mean the late 1940's. Anthony Carter was only eight-years-old in 1949.
