I think loserX posted a couple examples of this on the trade board but I can't find it. Damn nonworking/broken search option.

anyway

Can a team S&T a player and package him with other players in a trade?

Some recent examples would be great if the answer is yes.

Thanks

Of course.

Notice the word "trade" in "sign and trade." It's a trade. Trade rules apply as usual.

Aaron McKie was signed and traded from the Lakers to Memphis in the Gasol deal.

Van Horn was signed and traded from Dallas to NJ in the Kidd deal.

I don't know why fans often think there's some kind of rule that stipulates that players can only be signed and traded if they are being dealt on their own, but it isn't. It happens quite a bit. It's just that those being signed and traded are almost always bit part players who we don't focus on.

The Eddy Curry-to-Chicago trade featured S&Ts (including Curry himself) and multiple players on both sides. It's perfectly legal.

(I don't know where the misconception comes from either.)
