The Warriors still have a 10 million exemption that expires the day of the draft.
Can the Warriors who are about 5 million under the 69 million dollar luxury tax level that is estimated take on a player in trade from a team say the Lakers that is just over the 69 million dollar level.

the luxury tax is already known for the 2007-2008 season (whatever it actually is). The Warriors Team Salary on the last day of this past regular season is the calculation used, so trading for a player would not increase that figure (the only thing that would be added is if the player you traded away had a Trade Bonus, but since you're talking about using hte TPE, then no)

Thanks for the info.
Since the Warrior trade exemption does not expire until 2 days after the draft and the warriors will have only 7 players under contract players aquired with the exemption would count against next years luxury tax ????

Re: When is the calculation for luxury Tax done
the exception expires this Salary Cap Season (salary cap seasons are July 1-June 30), so it's only relevant to this season. The 7 players has nothing to do with it and is only relevant to next season. As far as the tax for next season, any players acquired with the exception would count, assuming they're still on the team's roster by the last day of the regular season in 2009..
