Cap hold for a player making more than the max?

Post#1 » by lakerfan10770 » Tue Jul 1, 2008 2:40 am

I just had a not so quick question, now that Baron Davis has opted out, his previous salary of $16.44M is more than the current maximum for a player with 9 years of experience of $15,649,500 (that number will obviously be changing when the new cap set). What is his cap hold?

I know it is not 150% of his previous salary, but is it $16.44M or whatever the max will be for a 9 year vet. From reading Larry Coon's site, I assume it is the latter, but if anyone could clarify that, it would be most appreciated.

I believe it's 105% of his 2007-08 salary, which would be $17.262 million.

Thanks, that appears to be correct. I didn't catch the part where he said "the players maximum salary" on #30 which he had previously described as 105% in question #11.
