Cuttino Mobley?

Just wondering if anyone here has a definitive answer as to what happened with Cuttino Mobley this year. There are a number of conflicting reports out there.

Several say that Mobley "officially retired". To me that implies that his paperwork was filed, and he can no longer be traded. Others say that the Knicks applied for a Disabled Player Exception and were denied.

Is Mobley still on the Knicks roster? Can he be traded? Does anyone have an irrefutable source as to his status?

Though unable to play because of his heart condition, Mobley is still on the Knicks roster, and can therefore be traded. You want an irrefutable source? How about this:

Unless I'm missing something, that roster has 16 players on it. Isn't the limit 15 at this time of year?

Now I'm really confused :-?

That's a real good point. :)

Courtney Sims shouldn't be on the roster. The Knicks didn't sign him after his second 10 day contract expired April 12th.

Shags is correct. When Sims' second 10-day contract expired, the Knicks signed Chris Hunter to a Rest-of-Season Contract with a conditional second year. Thus leaving the Knicks with 15 players on their roster.
