Isola's LeBronTV Canard

Post#1 » by Schad » Thu Sep 10, 2009 4:17 am

http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/knicks ... -same.html

Frank Isola has heard a rumor that Cablevision will offer LeBron James his own television channel, apparently as an enticement to sign as a free-agent in New York.

That would be torpedoed in roughly 30 seconds as the most blatant attempt at cap circumvention since the CBA came into being, right? Just want to make sure I'm not losing my mind.

What's a canard?

And for that matter, what the hell does Schadenfreude mean?

As for losing your mind, we don't deal with that on this forum. You need to go to the Grizzlies forum for help with questions dealing with the loss of the mind. Iverson AND Randolph. Now those are good influences for their young guys. Maybe they can convince Sprewell to come out of retirement.

That is my take on the situation and the first thought I had upon seeing that headline.

I'm sure it's not something that is going to happen the second LeBron becomes a Knick but it could happen down the line. I was unconvinced and in some ways against Lebron to NY but who am I to judge what a free agent can do. It's his life--anyone in the US is free to do what they want.

When I actually saw the clip yesterday of Lebron on GMA--that was the true first time I realized this is just about a done deal. The Nike ad with the blue and orange bird was one thing--C C sabthia saying LeBron was coming was another BUT after all the iffs or buts yesterday Lebron was wearing Knick colors in NY on purpose. That was one ugly sweater he had on--I mean who would wear that???? on TV?? It's pretty darn simple----he is fixated by money--there is no greater avenue to money than NY--it is what it is. He must have deals lined up with Nike that will blow away what he is currently making. Look at the strategic angle--Lebron fixes basketball in NY. He showed it yesterday--no one in their right mind would wear a Knicks blue sweater on TV--no one especially a guy who usually dresses to the tilt. So we can argue till the cows come home and I do feel sick about Cleveland fans but I realize that NY is not making any moves for a reason--they must know that LeBron is coming LBJTV or not.

As I recall, the CBA pretty specifically bans just that type of outside deal. Whoever postulated that it could happen has no clue.

Dan Gilbert will just counter by offering LeBron his own line of residential mortgage loans anyway.

The Raptors can offer him the max-seniority pension of an Ontario teacher. That'll be difficult to match.

Fixed. That will be the other provision of his signing there.

Sounds like a good move, and hopefully it will have an impact on the academic side as well; their LeBronomics programs have been severely lacking in recent years.
