I know how BYC/PPP works for the first trade.


But what if an extended player Such as

LaMarcus Aldridge $5,844,827 $10,744,000 $11,872,000 $13,000,000 $14,128,000 $15,256,000

was traded and then traded again which salary counts?

Would it be the $5,844,827 or an average of all the years? Cant find anything in the CBA except that he loses his BYC/PPP after the first trade. But it does not say which salary counts if he was traded again.

His actual compensation is what counts after he is traded the first time.

The amount he's actually getting paid.

WOW so his trade number is only $5,844,827. I would have thought it would have been the average of the deal ($11,807,471)

BYC does not go into effect for a player who signs an extension until after the moratorium period before his first extended season. The BYC of an extended first round draft pick is not extinguished if he is traded prior to the beginning of an extended term.

In fact the interim period has its own trade restrictions that typically are even more stifling, the so called "poison pill" provisions. Interestingly, the online version of the CBA has the bulk of that section missing from its text, simply ending mid-paragraph.

Yep. Interestingly enough, that's not the only place in the document which is left blank.

As it relates to the question though, I believe only a BYC player loses his unique status after the first trade (Art VII, Sec 6(h)(4)(iv)(C)). I believe the PPP is held in effect for the player until the July 1 preceding the first extended season. However, without the benefit of the language I could certainly be mistaken, and defer to those with knowledge of the league's intent.

So extened playesr such as LMA who are PPP do not lose the status, BYC players lose the status and the current years salaries is what counts for trade purposes?
