Start locking Trade Board topics without Explanations

Post#1 » by bcortell » Tue May 5, 2009 5:02 pm

The Mods used to do this but they have stopped recently. It's still in the rules, but they aren't enforcing it.

This is pretty simple policy: threads will be locked if the OP does not take the time or energy to offer their own reasons on why they think the trade is a good idea. Our primary goal is that the Trade board is the place to debate the merits of trade ideas. Threads that do not start out with some basis for debate, some clue to the original idea behind the trade, really makes for poor quality discussion. So, all we ask is that the OP offers some sort of analysis of their own idea. If you don't do want to offer any of your own thoughts on your idea, then you thread does not belong on this board.

People are starting to put ridiculous trades up then post something like this:

Most of the threads being locked on the Gen Board do include explanations, but some of them are so plain obvious as to why they were locked, that they just don't need explanations at times. But, definitely see your point(s).

I know there's a lot of stupid topics on the Gen Board that you guys are locking and I applaud that, but my concern was more with the Trade Board- where IMO there should probably be a few more topics locked (and thus preventing posters from posting future topics without even thinking about the cost and benefits of each team in the trade). They were doing it for a while, and it worked out well. I don't see why they seemed to have eased up on the rule.

read your thread a long time ago and i've tried to lock some the threads of some of the more notorious breakers of this rule. sometimes by the time i get to a thread with no explanation there has already been several posters that have engaged in conversation so its counterproductive to lock it at that point.
