End the misogyny

Post#1 » by x34truth34x » Thu Dec 3, 2009 8:59 pm

I see an awful lot if ignorant words being directed towards women on the realgm boards. A good example is in the Dwight Howard's baby momma thread, people casually calling women bitches and other nasty words really needs to stop. Racism isn't tolerated here, why is misogynistic comments?

Because they were referring to a specific woman who deserved it.

I agree OP, it's very widespread here, and everywhere on the internet. The little boys here love their idol and don't know anything about how diverse the population really is. But beyond censoring words how can you regulate a widespread attitude that goes beyond one website? Sure egregious threads can be locked but this attitude creeps in threads beyond Man vs Woman threads like that. I think posters who don't agree with generalizations and character judgments about people none of us know to say something whether is group bias or just our celebrity worship culture.

haha, little boys act all macho on a message board. I'd prefer that language not be used, but I consider the source. I have to respect a person before I care what he/she says. People who use that language earn no respect from me.

Although, there are times when an individual should be called a bitch.

The misogyny, which does exist on realgm, is sadly to be expected. I would guess about 2/3 of all posters on this board are between 16-25 and almost all are men.

This statement is just as bad as any perceived misogyny.

I'm not positive it should be expected but that not withstanding, even if it's expected, it probably shouldn't be tolerated.
