How do most navigate board?

On some forums, I can always just click to go to the first unread post, no matter if I log in at home or at work. With RealGM, I guess it's based on cookies, so my home computer won't know what I'ev read on my work computer. I end up having to click thru threads and figure out what page I left off.

Also, is there a way of knowing when someone quotes you in their response, so you can easily know who wants a response from you? I end up only responding to someone if I happen to scroll by their post.
