How does one report a mod?

Post#1 » by Fencer reregistered » Tue Jun 15, 2010 3:26 pm

I need to report a mod for unethical/abusive behavior, backed up by forwarding PMs to whoever gets the report.

But the PM system seems to limited I'm not sure how to do that. Also, I don't know who to send the report to.

Advice?

Neat system you got going. Your posters throw around obscene insults, then you warn people for calm, even polite responses.

If you want to run a forum where the norm is obscene posturing, fine. I can swear pretty fluently in two languages, and I know a few choice words or phrases in others.

But you guys favor a gang mentality in altogether too many senses of the word "gang". Based on what I see in other forums, I'm guessing that's not really the way RealGM management would prefer to run things. And it's not my preference either.

But hey -- maybe I'm wrong about the preferences of those people I don't even know. Maybe your forum is the model they'd like others to follow.

Send a PM to Howard Mass or utilize the 'Contact Us' Form here on RealGM.

I wasn't " ha' ing you.

But If you have a complaint, you can PM HowardMass and vent there.

Side note: Let me give you an example. If a Laker fan goes to your board right now to turn the screws on the Celtics and their fans. They will get warned, suspended and beat up on by your fan base. IS that the same 'gang' mentality.. or is just suck because it happened to you?

There's something of a difference between what Celtics fans are allowed to post in the Celtics forum and what other teams' fans are allowed to post. Ditto, I'm sure, Cleveland, Magic, Heat.

But the gap is much wider in the Lakers forum.

We do NOT have competitions in the Celtics forum where we brag about how obscene we can be towards other teams' fans, and how thoroughly the moderators will protect us when we are. I only have seen that in the Lakers forum.

You have no idea what goes on behind the scenes by mods from both camps. You also have no idea when posters are given warnings, and PM's behind the scenes.

If you have a problem with any post on any form, you can report it and then we can go from there.

You are making things up to the extreme here and playing the victim.

If you want to talk about your warning. Then try communicating with the Mod that gave you a warning via PM to get a better understanding.

I tried, but he refused to in any way address the matter. Instead, he just hurled general (blessedly G-rated) insults in my direction.

By the way, when I first posted on the Lakers forum, a Celtics mod PMed me to warn me that the Lakers mods should not be expected to act fairly. So I presume you guys have been doing this kind of thing for a while.

I don't know what kind of thing you are referring to. You are lacking in examples. I sent you a PM, and I hope you can get back to me with all information there.

This has been taken to PMs.

And in retrospect, it occurs to me that I can only prove bad behavior on the part of a single mod. Anything else clearly wrong can be blamed on "Failure to communicate happens, most especially among volunteers doing an annoying job for zero pay."
