Option to turn off Auto-Subscribe Topic?

Post#1 » by rockmanslim » Tue Apr 30, 2013 12:59 am

It looks like a new "Subscribe Topic" feature has been added to threads. I do like it, but the problem I have is that whenever I post in a thread, I automatically get subscribed to that thread. This results in my email inbox getting full of notification emails.

Is there an option in our user control panel somewhere where we can disable auto-subscribe?

Should be in your User Control Panel under Posting Defaults. You can also use the UCP to unsubscribe to topics as well.

ok so i turned off "Notify me upon replies by default"

(located in User Control Panel > Board Preferences tab > Edit Posting Defaults)

and I'm no longer getting Topic Reply Notifications in my email. Everything's good on that front.

However, I am now getting "Quote Notification" emails.

There are two issues with these Quote Notification emails

1) It directs me to posts that either aren't quoted, or aren't even mine. Sounds like a software bug?

2) How do I turn these Quote Notifications off, regardless?

Work with us a bit over these next couple days. We are hammering out the details of the subscribe functionality. Everything should be resolved by the end of Wednesday.

The quote notifications must be from people hitting the Quote button, deleting your quote, and then just using it as a reply button.

If you've turned off reply notifications, quote notifications should be off as well.

Got the same problem he's having, btw.

Also had reply notifications turned off from the get go since I signed to the site, so it doesn't seem like it has anything to do with it.

Ok, appreciate the hard work.

This user also seems to have the same problem with the quote notifications:

Everyone should notice that the notifications have been scaled back, right? Is anyone still being bombarded with emails?

I'm not being bombarded (all of the Reply notifications stopped with the setting change in the UCP) and haven't received a Quote notification in a while either.
