Please stop Commercials with Sound!

Post#1 » by BadMofoPimp » Fri Oct 25, 2013 7:29 pm

It doesn't happen that often. Maybe 3-4 times a day. In addition, it is usually about 5-10 minutes after I leave the browser while your Video keeps going eventually it starts allowing itself sound. I think your advertisers are doing this on purpose being it doesn't happen initially.

Usually, I may click on "View Topics" then go back to work and maybe another tab on Firefox. I may forget about RealGM for a while. Then, the commercial gives itself sound out of no-where even though the icon for sound on the commercial is still has an "X" over the sound icon. Thus, the only way to turn it off is to go to another link or click ON sound then Click again to turn sound off.

There is nothing like being at work talking to your boss then some TV commercial sound starts up on your speakers out of nowhere. Or, listening to Pandora and about 10 minutes later hearing people talking over the music from a commercial. This is getting old.

I think I figured it out, it is something to do with Firefox. Evidently, IE or Chrome does not have these issues. I now use (3) browsers at once while at work now being I need IE and Firefox for work related stuff, lol.

I guess it doesn't matter what Browser or PC one uses, the video in the upper right corner will ALLOW itself to produce sound after about 10 minutes.

This is totally against RealGM regulations but they haven't done anything to stop the Advertisers from letting this happen as I have been mentioning it for almost a month now with no responses.

Yeh. I can't use AdBlock at work.

What I did was use Firefox for RealGM and Google Searches (I use this for work regarding properties we are visiting). Turn off Flash, java and just about every single ad-on. Then, I get no ad's. If I do any shopping on Amazon or Newegg, I don't get the behavioral advertising that badly. But, I use this to access our Google account where we do Behavioral advertising, ironically.

I use Chrome for Pandora and our Website analytics software which is Java based. But, I won't use Chrome for any products or shopping as I don't care to give Google the benefit of using me for marketing.

Then, I only use IE for our Company program software, Website software, our cheap Israeli phone system (Telrad) software and our Voice Mail system software (occasionally for maintaining our companies voice mails).

We try to spot the ads that autoplay sound and prevent them from appearing again, but it isn't a perfect solution.
