Changing game threads

Post#1 » by Totem » Wed Sep 23, 2015 10:14 pm

I've been gone from real gm for a while now (posting sporadically here and there) so I'm not really sure if this has been brought up yet. But we should adjust the game threads to be more like the live chats around. What I mean is that we should make it so that you don't have to manually refresh the page and then click on the next page.

If there's a way, we should make them automatically refresh and show new posts like other live chats. I mean I love this community, most of the posts in the game threads are hilarious but it's too hard to actually mangle through the game threads during a live game. And If something amazing happens you have to wad through 5 pages of reactions during the timeouts. Don't get me wrong I love the reactions, I hate the manual labour involved.

I know I sound petty for complaining about refreshing a page but still. I think this would greatly improve the site overall and having two thread layouts (is that even possible?) can come in handy during trade deadlines, drafts and stuff.

This would be a reasonably significant add-on that wouldn't be worth the time and effort it would take to implement it. If RealGM wanted more of a live-chat functionality, they would just re-implement the live chat function they used to have.

Sometimes, you just have to live with what's there. It doesn't make a ton of sense to have a function which only applies to one kind of thread. If you're that interested in that sort of function, try to campaign for chat support.
