Heat3 wrote:I think the timing of limiting the upload hosts is inconvenient for many users. Why make such a policy change at the height of the playoffs? It's as if you are trying to maximize the hassle for your users.

During the playoffs myself and others use sigs that update automatically as our teams progress. Switching to a site like photo bucket will now force people update keep track of new url's and update their sigs every few days.

This is the type of thing that should wait for the off season when things slow down. Implement the policy starting July 4th and not June 4th.

Heat3,

We simply wanted to do this as fast as we could while giving users everyone fair warning.

the problems I listed in the above post were a top priority and did not want anymore trouble from Signatures and Avatars during the height of the playoffs which is very close to Draft night when our traffic will be at a high.

If you see an inappropriate Signature or Avatar, please let us know.

Please keep your thoughts coming.

I use imgur for everything I upload, if it isn't set in stone all ready I'll throw my support behind it.

Gifs can be uploaded to imageshack and photobucket, so I'd imagine that they are okay since there is no mention of the contrary by HowardMass.

I nominate flickr.com which is a trusted image hosting site.

You shouldn't allow ImageShack as it blocks a ton of non-US countries from seeing the images. imgur.com is by far the best hoster out there.

I've been using postimage.org the past few months, because ImageShack/PhotoBucket require you to sign up. Too lazy for that.

I'm not a fan of allowing larger sigs. One of the best things about this site is that sigs are kept to a reasonable length whereas some other sites allow entire wallpapers. :nonono:

Oh well, it's not a horrible change. I'm glad the height has been kept to 90 pixels. Better to increase the width than height.

If you care that much, why do you have an avatar?

Also

Image

Turn off sig/av if it bothers you, you're welcome.

If it's set in stone, will you be against it?

Cool nonconformism bro

Yea imageshack turned super gay a year or two ago. I used to strictly use it, had an account since 2007 and had thousands of pics there... then they started blocking stuff and disallowed gifs unless you paid or something. Made the switch to imgur and never looked back

I have sent our Contractor some sites you guys have suggested.

Again, we will be limiting this to a few.

I like this a lot (pending we keep imgur and tinypic) however what about posting pictures in threads? Will those also be limited? A lot of the times people make game threads with pictures or just post gifs along with posts from random sites that they most likely used google to find. Would we be restricted on what we post too? Just sigs and avatars and ya got my vote!

Howard, what about people who link to outside RealGM sites (not twitter related, just other websites) in their avatar or signature? Is that still allowed?
