Virus from this site

I was just browsing the forums an hour or so ago (Hadn't logged in) and I got a virus. Now I had another window open, but I was doing a Google search, so I'm 99.9% sure it was from this website.
The virus was called "Antispyware Soft". Anyway, after about an hour and a half of panic and searching for a way to remove it, I THINK I finally got rid of it *crosses fingers*.
I also just now downloaded AdBlock Plus for FireFox...not sure if that will help in the future here.
Is this common for this website? And also what are some other preventative measures I can take (Suggestions?) to protect my comp?
