MODS

Post#1 » by Big_Ben7 » Wed Oct 13, 2010 2:44 am

I am on several forums of my favorite teams, steelers, pitt panthers, blue bombers, blue jays
and can honestly say you guys are the ones that lock threads the most, other forums are a lot funner to be a part of. 1) Why do you have so many Mods? 2) Why do they have hard ons to lock everything?

It is honestly a bit much

I am guessing I won't get a reply and this will be locked and I'll get some sort of warning *barf*

Try the feedback forum, that would work best for your post.

I'll oblige. Threads of little value for others to read, either because they have little in the way of reported information, or because they're knee-jerk reactions to events on the court without much thought or insight are locked because if they weren't locked this entire board would be dominated with 3 full pages of threads that were farted out onto keyboards the very moment they entered some people's heads.

Topics like:

I don't like Bargs.
Bargs sucks.
Amir Johnson doesn't care now that he got paid.
Jose needs to go.
Jack isn't the same now that Bosh is gone.
Why does everybody suck?
Barbosa should get the ball all the time.

would be repeated over and over again and this board would become a chore to read.

In closing, most people come to this board for news, well-written, edited and thought-out observations/insight on what's happening on the court. We don't always agree but there's no agenda to suppress quality posts. In fact, we encourage them. You bring the goods and your post will be read. Treat this place like you're an attention-craved teenager in a movie theatre, shouting out anything that enters your head and your threads will be locked.

It's really as simple as that. Now, this will be locked but you and others have been given a rational explanation of what's done and why.

This forum is already a chore to read. Why not also delete or warn about individual posts that add nothing, such as
+1
or
this
or
lol
or
what he said
or
ibtl
or
pwned
without additional thought or context? There are some good posts here, and I don't mind reading peoples' thoughts even if they are wrong or uninformed, and I don't even mind reading useless posts that are at least an attempt at being funny. But these empty posts are a waste of time.

We try. There are a lot of them out there, including the new one
cool story bro

We would need people to flag each of them, it is in the TOS that comments like these are not particularly acceptable, however, the backlash would would be terrible. Can you imagine the sheer volumn of youtube videos decrying us mods and our fascists ways?

Hence the Ozzy hate on youtube!

I didn't notice that until I was checking out basketball clips in youtube lately. Almost each of them have that "Hate Ozzy", "Ozzy sucks" and a lot worse comments.

Pretty much. This is what happens when young emo's run out of room on their arm for "give me attention cuts". They turn to youtube to vent. Some people take trivial things a little too seriously.

Heres the deal, if having a thread locked is enough to get you all bent out off shape for the day and make you post hateful messages, then, well IMO you fail at the internet and life in general. In short...
