Advanced Search

I know I'm new but I just spent about 15 minutes trying to figure out how to do an "advanced search" only to find that I am not permitted to use advanced search.

I start by clicking "view my posts" by the user control panel, and then "Return to advanced search" and get the error "Sorry but you are not permitted to use the search system."

So am I missing something?
In the FAQ:
faq.php#f70

Directly from FAQ:

How can I search a forum or forums?
Enter a search term in the search box located on the index, forum or topic pages. Advanced search can be accessed by clicking the “Advance Search” link which is available on all pages on the forum. How to access the search may depend on the style used.

How can I find my own posts and topics?
Your own posts can be retrieved either by clicking the “Search user’s posts” within the User Control Panel or via your own profile page. To search for your topics, use the Advanced search page and fill in the various options appropriately.

So, if I can't use it, it seems like that the absence of that functionality for X amount of time should also be listed in the FAQ.

When will I be able to use this feature?

Not anytime soon (though the door always remains open that it may return in the future with better coding options). The native Search on RGM was disabled a few Years ago, and now replaced with Google Search.

Why? Because of RGM's size and reliance on MYSQL, it puts a strain on the Servers during peak time.

A couple of Years ago, that function was available to everyone and that FAQ entry was accurate. Now it's just available to the higher ups (Mods, Globals, and Admins).

It has nothing to do with your Posting History or Level.

Thanks,
