Suspension and ban from the GB

I demand an explanation as to why I was suspended and subsequently banned from the general Board.
The Demarcus Cousins thread that started it all: viewtopic.php?f=6&p=32917035#p32917035
I backed up every single one of my post defending my opinion when it comes to Demarcus Cousins and why I don't think he deserves a max extension.
I posted statistical information and other reasons as to why I think he should be ranked lower than a number of centers in this league. I did this without attacking anyone. There were several individuals insulting my intelligence and basketball knowledge, but I never responded with an insult and maintained my stance on DeMarcus Cousins. Later on, a poster said that DeMarcus Cousins has been the most skilled center drafted since Yao and that he will soon have a Tim Duncan like effect on his team... where I proceeded to post a gif of a female fan at a sporting event mouthing the words "Oh My God" and said that the comment didn't even mention a response because of how stupid it was... without writing the "because of how stupid it was" part of course. He replied asking me what other center was drafted with more skill... I replied with Greg Oden (this post was deleted for some reason)... and soon there after went to sleep.
When I woke up a few hours later I realized that I had been suspended because I "derailed" a thread.
With all due respect to the site admins and the mods who all have a thankless jobs on this site.... how the hell did I derail a thread, much less earned a suspension AND BAN from the general board?
Is calling someone out (without insulting them) and holding them responsible for the stupid things they say not allowed anymore?
If I were to start a thread on the General Board (well I can't) about how Brook Lopez will be a defensive anchor like Hakeem Olajuwan, will the posters that post reactionary gifs be suspended like I was?
I don't really care about posting on the General Board, I just want an explanation why my post was considered "derailing" and merited a suspension and ban; I can't wrap my head around it.
