Does the punishment fit the crime?

I was recently suspended for 4 days for posting a gif in response to a funny post by another poster, viewtopic.php?f=6&p=32930720#p32930720 , but I question why I was punished for "derailing" despite me contributing to the topic on hand. I didn't just put a gif in and run away, I made a nice answer about the topic imo and also saw a funny post that I wanted to give credit to. Not really a major issue but I'm a little annoyed because I would understand if I was actually "derailing" but I contributed and then gave a "thumbs up" to another poster. If you could clear up why I received such a punishment It'd make me feel a little better.

This is not what happened. The post in question was not contribution in any way, shape or form and other posts by you in that thread are irrelevent. You violated the rules, and consequently, you were warned and then suspended based on your overall poster history.
