Destructed?

The WT headline reads:
Rivers: Clippers Would Be Destructed By Warriors in Playoff Series

Destructed? I read the quote and Rivers said "It would be a destruction."
Who's writing the headlines for this website? An idiot?

I know no one likes the Grammar Police, but for god's sake, someone just desctructed the English language. Can we get someone who at least knows a little bit about our own language to write the headlines here?

Sorry to go on a rant, but that is downright offensive.

Well, its obvious that what Doc meant to say was, "It would be a destroytion."

I think it is just unusual wording. Dustructed (instead of destroyed) was used in the headlines since Doc used destruction in his quote. I don't know if it is wrong...it is just different.

Heh heh, I had exactly the same reaction about a half-hour before you did and notified the site admins. There's a spot for mods to report inaccurate Wiretap headlines, so that's what I did. And lo and behold, it's been changed. They're pretty good about that.

Thanks, Ben. I'm just a sad English major, former magazine editor with the bad grammar blues. Saw this expression recently on Facebook:

GRAMMAR
The difference between knowing your sh*t
and knowing you're sh*t
