60 days wait time for the General NBA Thread
I am sorry if this has already been brought up, but I couldn't find an answer or thread concerning this. I can understand not wanting new user to spam this area which seems to be the most popular on the site, but in my opinion 60 days(2 months) is a bit extreme. If legitimate new members like myself can only post in team threads which for me would mostly be the Washington Wizards thread because I am really not on top of the other NBA teams that I could post good posts. That then leaves the Off Topic threads which a few things could interest me to post about, but not a lot. I signed up here to talk about the NBA and to cut the major thread area out to New users for 2 months will only make them lose interest in the site altogether. So if someone(moderator or administrator) can explain why the time frame is so extended please do so. The reason I joined this site after looking over several NBA forums is the set up looked great, the activity looked pretty good, and the topics including most from the General NBA Thread were very interesting. I just don't want to lose interest because I cannot get fully involved for 2 months.

The GB is the most active board on RealGM. There are over 4.2 million posts and nearly 2,900 pages of threads. We have a lot of issues with new posters. Spam, inability to adhere to policy (which is tougher on the GB for various reasons), trying to post here like it's Hooptalk or ISH, and so forth.
It's kind of a necessary evil because of the way things go and the workload on the mods who oversee that board. Every other board on the forum is open to you until this time has past. Many of the discussions on the GB are replicated on the Wiretap board (because the GB ends up having threads about interesting or ridiculous WT threads as well), and you can find a lot of good conversation on the Player Comparisons board.

The team boards are often very active. Just start there and get an idea about the community. I haven't had GB access for 2 years almost and I can still get a great discussion from the other boards.
