RealGM

So looks like RealGM boards were offline several hours Monday night/Tuesday morning.


Obviously back now but looking at some threads, looks like posts for approximately the last 12 hours have been lost, no longer there.

So, i got an email, about 10 hours ago. Apparently it came from the "administrator of RealGM"
and the message contained "Hacked by Arthur Sergeevich Trusov". Also the Subject of the eMail was the same.

Anybody else got the email aswell?

I usually get email notifications for RealGM private messages. But I did not get the one you were talking about.

I got the same

I received the same email. It was probably a ransomware attack, but they got the site back by restoring to an earlier time when the database was backed up. Looks to me like they went back to Sun the 15th.

I'm still noticing a lot of missing posts on the Bucks board and elsewhere. Hopefully everything is recovered eventually.

From someone who works in this space, it could happen it could not. Depends on how often they do DB backups and when they found whatever it was.

Possible they went back far enough to be comfortable to get the site backup and now checking their more recent backups.

On the CA board looks like most is gone form yesterday, very bizarre. We'll see if anything comes back.

I'm in IT too. I believe they do daily backups around 5 or so which seem to jive with what I see.

I saw that exact line, but it was part of the Board Index Titles (eg instead of Feedback and Suggestions, it was replaced by Hacked By Arthur Sergeevich Trusov), where you still continue on browsing, but eventually the site just crashed. This was at around 7-8pm AEST (Sydney, Australia time).

Here is the message posted on this issue and some posts from the previous day were not backed up.
